The CS141 products require a time server to sycronizes the data and alarms/events In some installations the end user will not allow the CS141 equipment onto their corporate network. This application note will guide the user to enable a ntp server on a standard Windows PC.
Windows Time Service

Open Settings->Control Panel->Windows Tools->Services and ensure that the Windows Time-Service's Startup Type is set to Automatic and that the services are running.
Note:
For Windows 11, Microsoft renamed Administrative Tools to Windows Tools meaning you might find the Windows Time Service on systems older than Windows 11 under:
Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services
Edit the Registry to enable NTP
2. Open the Windows Registry
3. Under the windows registry got to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpServer
4. Right click on “Enabled” and change the “Value Data” from 0 to 1 and click OK
5. Under Settings->Control Panel->Windows Tools->Services
- Stop and Restart “Windows Time”
Note:
Please check if your computer is reachable through the network. You may have to change the Windows Firewall settings to allow inbound/Outbound UDP port 123.
6. Once the steps above have been completed verify on the CS141 that the time services are working properly under System- Date & Time
