The CS141 Web Manager provides a large amount of data about installed devices to support detailed analysis in case of incidents, including:
Battery data
Sensor data
Event logs
Transmit/receive confirmations
The exact data collected depends on the connected hardware and the current configuration. Since this data may contain both highly sensitive security information and reconstructable event histories, a complete data deletion is recommended when the device is repurposed for new tasks.
Example: If the CS141 is sold, all user traces should be completely removed.
Where are log files stored?
Regular Operating Mode
Current log files are created in real time and managed automatically. If you intentionally delete these files via the Tools menu, they are permanently lost — recovery is not possible.-
Rescue Mode
When performing a system update, existing data and configurations are stored in Rescue Mode as “last known good.” The regular operating mode is reset and restarted after flashing with a new set of log files. This means that the CS141 even provides an emergency data recovery option: after an accidental flash, Rescue Mode allows access to log files and the last configuration saved before the update.
Complete removal of all user traces
Set the slide switch to the center position to enable Configuration Mode with its hard-coded IP address 10.10.10.10 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
Assign a suitable IP address to your computer or configure a corresponding route to access the CS141.
Perform two consecutive flash updates. In both cases, ensure the checkboxes for Factory default and Network reset are selected.
The first flash update transfers data and configuration from the regular operating mode to Rescue Mode, then deletes all data during the subsequent process.
The second flash update writes an empty configuration from Configuration Mode into Rescue Mode, leaving the system fully reset.
Note:
Open a browser and enter http://10.10.10.10/update to start the flash update after providing the current administrator password. During the second flash, the default password cs141-snmp is required.
