Conditions for using this function:
The sending device must have firmware version 2.12 or higher.
The receiving device must support the respective function and be equipped with the required peripheral devices.
"Remote Command" is a powerful tool that allows all devices in the CS141 product family to exchange information directly. It also enables communication with contact-controlled management systems, supporting extensive networking within building management systems. Through this feature, devices can exchange and respond to switching statuses directly via the network.
For example, a CS141 BSC does not provide external interfaces. With Remote Command, it is now possible to program the relays of a SITEMANAGER, the outputs of a SENSORMANAGER or CON_R_AUX4 directly. This allows automation of complex control systems. All devices can coordinate with each other via LAN and contact wires, enabling even the most complex environmental control and monitoring setups.
How exactly does this job work?
With the "Remote Command" function, CS141 and BACS devices can now be directly connected via LAN. This allows the CS141 to access connected devices and execute actions such as sending SMS notifications, opening/closing contacts, or switching relays.
Popular problem:
In many installations, the UPS—and consequently the CS141—may be located in an isolated area such as a basement, sometimes referred to as a “dead zone.” This is common for UPS or battery systems. While LAN access is often still available, communication with contact-controlled building management systems can be challenging.
In some cases, other CS141 devices in the building, such as an CON_R_AUX_4 or a SITEMANAGER equipped with output controls and a GSM modem, are connected to the same LAN.
In such a scenario, the “Remote Command” function allows a CS141/BACS to communicate directly with any other CS141 device and to program interface modules remotely. This capability effectively eliminates communication blind spots within the network.
Actions are reserved for administrators: requirements and reservation clauses
The operating principle illustrates the power of this function as follows: it offers numerous possibilities for integration into existing building management systems, including modern server infrastructures. This job can be configured to suit these integration requirements.
In this screenshot, you can see that Outlet 1 has been switched in this case.
The target device will automatically set the AUX output to “1 (ON)” and then execute the jobs assigned to this local system event.
Even this simple job can provide many benefits for your network, e.g.:
Inform a contact-controlled management system without installing new contact wires.
Configure an automatic reaction to this event, such as briefly closing Output 2 and then resetting both contacts to their original state.
In combination with RCCMD, create internal message jobs to display pop-up windows with system instructions for administrators.
Trigger automatic scripts and initiate preparatory server shutdown measures.
And much more.
Note:
Any number of individual actions is possible. Each CS141 is capable of contacting various other devices in the CS141 product family and triggering actions accordingly. Due to this capability, a CS141 can combine both LAN- and contact-based communication methods.
